Become a Weymouth and Portland Ambassador

The London 2012 Games are taking place across the UK and London 2012 wants visitors to every region to have a fantastic experience.  As Weymouth and Portland is the only venue outside of London to be hosting a full Olympic and Paralympic Games schedule they need all hands on deck to ensure our visitors have the best possible experience.

The Weymouth and Portland Ambassador Programme (WPA) is the only officially recognised volunteer programme, in Weymouth and Portland, outside of the London 2012 Games Maker programme and has been awarded the Inspire Mark by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).

Working in conjunction with the Government Olympic Executive, WPA is the only ambassador programme within the South West. WPA will be Weymouth and Portland’s equivalent of the Mayor of London’s London Ambassadors, and will complement the London 2012 Games Maker programme.

WPA is looking for 800 volunteers – called Ambassadors – to welcome the world to the area by greeting visitors at regional hot spots, such as transport hubs, and provide information about the Games, local attractions and transport links.

If you are successful in your application you will receive an officially branded uniform- unique to the programme and the only design of its kind to be made in history! You will also receive all the training you need for your role, a travel card for travel within Dorchester, Weymouth and Portland, refreshments during your shift, recognition, a written reference (on request), an invite to an exclusive celebration event (post Games) and of course… the chance to be part of history!

WPA has made a pledge to offer 40% of their predicted vacancies to people aged 16-24 years olds – so what are you waiting for? Sign up today at www.weymouthandportlandambassadors.org
